More and more Russians fear being tried for war crimes: “I spit on what the Criminal Court of The Hague thinks”

During Vladimir Soloviev’s talk show, on the Russian state channel Russia-1, Margarita Simonyan, head of another state television, made revelations about the fears of certain Russian leaders.

She also mentioned the Russian bombings in Ukraine. “They (Editor’s note: speaking of the Ukrainians) are preparing to take our Crimea. So we do the only thing we can do in this situation: bomb them. We bomb their infrastructure. An infrastructure that helps them fight and kill our people in areas that are now ours. Russia does not bomb for fun. God knows we didn’t want that. Nobody wanted that. And I know our government didn’t want that either.”she says.

Subsequently, the television boss revealed that some people in the Russian high spheres of power were increasingly afraid that Russia would lose the war and that they would be tried for war crimes before the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

She didn’t like those words. “Unfortunately I know a lot of people who think that. Including people from the highest echelons. They are afraid and dare not say things clearly for fear of what people might think there (Editor’s note: at the International Criminal Court in The Hague). I spit on what they think there. People who are afraid of The Hague should rather be afraid of losing the war, of being humiliated and of betraying their people. If we lose, The Hague will even go after a sweeper sweeping the cobblestones behind the Kremlin. It would be a disaster for our country. It is not an option. We must not lose the war”, she commented.

Before concluding threateningly: “There will be no more court in The Hague if we lose. There will be nothing left. The world will be reduced to ashes”.
