Bad news for hospitals. While they are struggling to find the nurses essential to welcoming patients, the number of new nurses is declining due to the large proportion of students abandoning their studies.
Last year, the number of qualified nurses fell by 1% to just over 24,000, notes a communication from the Ministry of Health in recent days. However, the number of those enrolled in nursing school had increased significantly three years earlier (+6%).
