More beer than ever before: Veltins is brewing a new record | Regional

Meschede – Consumer uncertainty about the Ukraine war has not affected Veltins’ business to date. The beer giant even sets a new record.

The brewers from Sauerland increased their output by 10.1 percent to 1.7 million hectoliters in the first half of the year. According to General Manager Michael Huber, more than ever before in Veltins history.

The main reason: After the pandemic, the catering and event business picked up again. “The good festival weather on weekends and the desire of the people to meet each other supported us solidly until the middle of the year”, says Huber. The previous losses are more than made up for. The prices could remain stable.

Despite the currently booming business, the company is preparing intensively for the possible consequences of the war. Within a few hours, for example, the boiler house can be switched from gas to fuel oil firing, so that brewing does not come to a standstill in the brewhouse.
