More problems with the Health Platform in Møre og Romsdal

Chief shop steward for Delta Kristoffer Vikan at Ålesund hospital and Volda hospital tells about several different types of errors that have occurred.

– There have been referrals to Ålesund hospital which should have gone either to Molde hospital or to Kristiansund hospital. This applies to at least two departments in Ålesund. In addition, patients have been summoned to the wrong departments. Entire groups of patients have been summoned to the wrong department, Vikan adds Sunnmørsposten.

In addition, several employees in psychiatry gained access to patient lists to which they should not have had access.

The technical problems were expected. Therefore, the health authority introduced a call routine for urgent cases to double check that messages were received.

– All departments must have super users who can provide guidance. But in several places the pressure is so great that there is no time to guide, says Vikan.

According to managing director Olav Lødemel in the health company, most cases are resolved locally, and the cases are reviewed and prioritized early in the morning in joint meetings.

– The main challenges in the first week have been, among other things, problems with access to patient lists, setting up inboxes, etc. Some people see too little, and others see too much. We know that St. Olav’s hospital also had challenges with this in its start-up phase, he says.

He assures that the management is following the situation closely and notifies the relevant authorities “if the situation so warrants”.
