More space: SSD Samsung 990 Pro win new version with 4TB capacity

Samsung confirmed, on Thursday (24), that it will expand its line of high-performance storage units with a new version of the SSD 990 Pro. According to the South Korean manufacturer, after receiving many requests from its consumers, the model finally will receive a version with a capacity of 4TB.

The 990 Pro hit the market in versions of up to 2 TB, and although these capacities are the most popular options for gamers and users who demand maximum performance from their console or PC, the search for a model with even more available space led the company to design a version with twice the memory.

Although details about this new version are still scarce, it is possible that the new model will deliver the same performance as the options with less storage, which reach speeds of up to 7,450 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s at sequential read and write, respectively, plus random write of up to 1,550,000 IOPS.

It is also expected that the model will be available in options with or without Samsung’s heatsink. For those who prioritize economy over performance, the version without the accessory may be ideal. Those looking for maximum performance and stability may be interested in the variant with the accessory.

A detail that should be highlighted is the connection interface of the Samsung 990 Pro. The models launched in the last year support the 4th generation PCI Express standardwhile the industry is already migrating to the 5th generation, which delivers greater bandwidth compared to previous specifications and, therefore, higher data transfer rates.

Samsung has yet to release a release date or MSRP for the 4TB SSD 998 Pro, but urges consumers to keep an eye out for its updates. It is worth remembering that the 1 TB and 2 TB models have suggested prices starting at US$ 129 and US$ 219 (about R$ 629 and R$ 1,069), respectively.
