More than 100 trees were illegally cut down in Vienna nature reserve

Pure idyllic atmosphere – that’s how you can describe the place in Wilhelminenberg in Vienna’s 16th district. This is where Villa Aurora is: yellow paint, green shutters, beautiful wooden details on the front. In the 18th century, the villa served as a hunting palace for the royal family. Later it became a popular tourist attraction. After closing in 2019, it’s now reopened for a few weeks – always from Thursday to Sunday. Since then, the business hasn’t made headlines for gastronomic reasons. Because countless trees were cut down in the area. This leads to a lack of understanding among residents.
