Moroccan Bouchra Baibanou climbs Mount Annapurna in the Himalayas

Mount Annapurna is located in the Himalayas in central Nepal with a height of 8,091 meters (26,545 feet), and is known as one of the most dangerous mountains in the world for climbers.

Baibanou, head of the Women’s Committee at the Royal Moroccan Federation of Skiing and Mountain Sports, posted a video on his Facebook page at the top of Mount Annapurna carrying the national flag.

On his social media page, Baibanou wrote, “Praise God I was able to climb Mount Annapurna, one of the toughest mountains in the world. I dedicate this feat to HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and to all Moroccans, as well as to Moroccan, Arab and Muslim women. Thank you to the sponsors who trusted me and allowed me to hoist the flag of Morocco above the summit of Annapurna in the Himalayas”.

Bouchra Baibanou is the first Moroccan to climb the Seven Summits, Kilimanjaro in Africa (2011), Elbrus in Europe (2012), Aconcagua in South America (2014), Mount McKinley in North America (2014) , the Carstens Pyramids in Spain (2015), Everest in Asia (2017) and Vinson in Antarctica (2018).
