Moroccan students can return to their Chinese universities

After two long years of waiting, the long-awaited decision is finally pronounced. China reopens its borders to Moroccan students, stranded in Morocco since 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Moroccans can now return to China and join the benches of Chinese universities.

The People’s Republic of China published, on August 23, a notice of adjustment of visa policies for Moroccan students.

The document specifies that students, wishing to go to China for a long period, are called upon to apply for the X1 visa by providing the necessary documents. While their family members can apply for their corresponding visas.

As for students with of an unexpired residence permit in China, they can as of 00:00 a.m. on August 24, 2022 (Beijing time), enter China without applying for a visa.

It should be noted that the question of the return of Moroccan students to China was raised by the Chinese ambassador to Morocco, Li Changlin during an interview granted to Hespress, during which the diplomat pointed out that new procedures related to the departure of students to China will be announced soon by Chinese Embassy.

“After my arrival in Morocco, I personally worked on this dossier, and it was among my priorities, and I know how concerned Moroccan students are about their academic future and their families. In recent days, I received instructions from Beijing, allowing Moroccan students to continue their studies. There are only a few details related to consular services and visa (plane ticket acquisitions),” he explained.

Remember that Moroccan students have found themselves, since January 2020, stranded in Morocco, forced to continue their studies online. A way of teaching that exposed them to multiple problems.

Time difference (7 hours), connection problem, lack of access to practical work, etc., are all constraints faced by the students during these two university years. Noting that most of them opt for training such as medicine, information, engineering…Training, which most often requires practical work and a presence in the field.
