Morocco Aerospace Community Outreach: Robotics competition winners honored at prestigious ceremony

A prize giving ceremony for the first three winners of the “Morocco Aerospace Community Outreach” robotics competition was organized on Friday in Nouaceur, on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of the aeronautics career awareness day.

This competition was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the province of Nouaceur, in partnership with the Boeing Group, the Moroccan Aeronautical and Space Industries Group (GIMAS) and the national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM), for the benefit of students, middle and high school students in the province of Nouaceur, reports MAP.

This second edition aims to arouse the interest of young people in professions linked to the aeronautics sector, in particular science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

On this occasion, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ryad Mezzour, indicated that the national aeronautical industry is experiencing a real rise in strength, opening up to new development prospects.

“In this march towards excellence, we are banking heavily on Moroccan youth who remain one of the essential pillars of this sector that drives growth and is a major provider of jobs,” he said, adding that the goal is to introduce young people to the immense potential of this industry which is the pride of Morocco and prepare them to take over.

For his part, the United States Ambassador to Morocco, Puneet Talwar, said that American aeronautical companies are not content to talk about the creation of the next generation of Moroccan engineers but are taking action today. ‘today.

Initiatives such as this, he continues, provide the skills necessary to design, build and fly the planes of the future, believing that Morocco stands out in the field of aeronautics.

For his part, the CEO of RAM, Hamid Addou, expressed his satisfaction with the reception of young students who embody the future within this unique space (the Hangar Latécoère). “We are on the old runway which hosted the first Aéropostale flights and was one of the stopovers on the very first line in the history of commercial aviation as well as aircraft maintenance and repair operations until the transfer of its activities to Nouaceur in 1969. Youth must know this history and can be proud of it,” he argued.

Furthermore, Ihssane Mounir, senior vice president in charge of global supply chain and manufacturing within the Boeing Commercial Aviation (BCA) division, indicated that this initiative reflects Boeing’s pride in contributing to the development and the visibility of the aeronautical sector in Morocco, as well as the strengthening of its collaboration with Moroccan suppliers.

And to underline the importance of the event, to the extent that key players in the aeronautics sector are determined to prepare tomorrow’s talents for highly qualified professions through the adoption of emerging technologies.

“In a context marked by multiple challenges, the aviation sector must more than ever recruit competent young people, and we are confident about the significant contributions that students from Nouaceur schools will make to building a sustainable future for aviation “, he added.

Welcoming the participation of GIMAS in the 2nd edition of the aeronautics career awareness day, Said Benahajjou, president of GIMAS, for his part, called for commitment to the education and training system for ensuring equal and fair access for all children to quality education adapted to the needs of the job market, emphasizing this is part of the duty of GIMAS.

“More than 10 years ago, GIMAS was committed to training young people through the IMA, and today through ISMALA and OFPPT to give everyone a chance to be part of this great adventure that is the aeronautics industry in Morocco, an industry in which the human element remains one of the essential pillars and the strong link, he said.

This event took place at a time when the aeronautics sector plans to recruit more than 2 million people over the next 20 years, including 69,000 on the African continent.

It is also part of the continued development of the Moroccan aeronautical industry and the major technological changes affecting this sector and confirming the strategic position occupied by the Kingdom on the global aeronautical scene.
