THE NON-RENEWAL OF THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR HEINEKEN BRAND PRODUCTS
The Société des Boissons du Maroc (SBM), a company listed on the Casablanca stock exchange and leader in beer production in Morocco, announces the arrival
its end in December 2023 of its license contract for the production and distribution of Heineken brand products and the common desire of the two partners not to continue this relationship.
The Castel Group, the second largest brewer in Africa, has been producing and marketing brands recognized and appreciated by consumers since 1949 and intends to continue the development of its brands with strong local roots.
In 2022, Heineken sales accounted for 17% of SBM sales. This share will be taken up by the Group’s historic brands, whose positioning has been significantly strengthened in recent years. This operation will have no impact on the accounts for the 2023 financial year.
Mr. Sébastien Yves-Ménager, Managing Director of the Group, declared:
A new chapter is opening at the SBM. During this partnership, we have learned a lot from each other. SBM has invested massively in order to train its teams and have an industrial tool that meets the most demanding standards and meets the FSSC22000Q, ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards. For over 100 years, we have been offering our consumers Moroccan beers brewed and bottled in our Casablanca factory. With the full support of our Shareholders and the Castel Group, I am very confident in the future and in our ability to continue our growth through innovations and the development of our iconic brands.
