Morocco elected vice-president of the African Liberal Network for North Africa

Morocco, in the person of Mrs. Bouchra Barrijal of the Constitutional Union (UC) party, was elected vice-president of the African Liberal Network (RLA) for North Africa, at the end of the General Assembly of this organization, held from 05 to 09 October in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The new executive committee is made up of President Gilbert Noel Oudraogo of the Alliance for Democracy and Federation (African Democratic Rally -Burkina Faso) and Treasurer Clement Stambuli of the Forum for the Defense of Democracy (Malawi), a statement said. of the RLA.

It also includes the vice-president for West Africa, Ousmane Traore Ben Fana, of the Citizen Party for Renewal (Mali), the vice-president for Central Africa, Rudy Mandio, of the People’s Party of the Nation (DR Congo), the Vice-President for East Africa, Renee Mayaka, of the Orange Democratic Movement (Kenya), and the Vice-President for Southern Africa, Rose Sakala, of the United Party for national development (Zambia).

Speaking on this occasion, Gilbert Noel Ouédraogo indicated that this new Executive Committee is now the most diverse in terms of gender in the history of the ALN.

“Including the new Secretary General, Councilor Wendy Alexander of the Democratic Alliance (DA-South Africa) party and Coordinator Robyn Thomson, five of the nine positions available are filled by women,” he said. he says.

The gender approach, he said, is “an important aspect as it reflects the composition of the peoples of our continent and the progressive steps we need to take towards meaningful representation”.

Another strong point of the General Assembly, notes the RLA, was the welcome of new member parties, namely the ACT-Wazalendo of Tanzania, Gambia for all and the Republican Movement of the DR Congo.

It should be noted that the General Assembly of the ALN took place with the participation of representatives of two Moroccan political parties. They are Mohamed Rherras, member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Movement (MP) and Ahmadou Elbaz, member of the Political Bureau of the Constitutional Union (UC).
