Morocco records its first confirmed case of monkeypox

A first confirmed case of monkey pox has been recorded in Morocco, the Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced on Thursday.

“This is a case from a European country, detected under the protocol established by our country since the launch of the global health alert,” the ministry said in a statement.

The patient’s state of health is “stable and does not cause concern”, he assured, adding that he is under medical supervision in accordance with the health measures adopted in this area.

As soon as the laboratory test results were confirmed, the national and regional public health emergency operations centers launched an investigation to list all contact cases, in order to monitor them and take preventive measures to prevent the spread of the virus. , the ministry said.

These contact cases have not shown any symptoms so far, according to the same source, noting on the other hand that the World Health Organization has been notified about the State of origin of the registered case.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection will continue to communicate with national public opinion on developments in the health situation.
