Morocco will host the World High Speed Rail Congress

Taking into account the position enjoyed by Morocco in Africa and the Middle East in the field of high-speed rail, the International Union of Railways (UIC) chooses the Kingdom of Morocco to host the 2023 edition of the UIC World Congress. of high-speed rail.

To this end, the 11th edition of the Congress, which will be held from March 7 to 10, 2023, at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, under the aegis of UIC and ONCF, will bring together all the players in the rail speed in the world.

By adopting as its motto “High Speed Rail: the right speed for our planet”, the congress emphasizes the railway’s contribution to solving climate problems and its role in regional planning.

The Director General of ONCF, Mohamed Rabie KHLIE and the Director General of UIC, François DAVENNE, cordially invite the major players in the mobility chain on the five continents to take part in this unique event. “It is the best framework for maximizing the added value of railways for the community and for sharing the latest technological advances. High Speed Rail is far from having exhausted the potential of solutions adapted to the growth of sustainable mobility on a planetary scale”, they declared.

Three billion passengers use high-speed trains each year, and this growth is boosted by the continuous expansion of the high-speed rail network and associated services.
Indeed, while nearly 56,000 km of high-speed lines are currently in service worldwide, this figure will double in the next 30 years.

Countries that have already embarked on this path are completing the mesh of their own network and they are joined by new countries and new States convinced by this mode of transport. This is not without posing some strategic, industrial, technical or financial challenges that the Congress will address during three days of Congress.

More than 1,500 participants are expected for this edition of the UIC High Speed Rail World Congress in Marrakech: political decision-makers, authorities in charge of transport, railway companies and key players in intermodality, infrastructure managers, industrialists, financial institutions , customers, study and research institutes, universities, etc.

All of these audiences are invited to the working sessions, the trade fair and the technical visits organized on this occasion. An invitation for submission of article(s) to be presented during the congress is launched to researchers, academics, students and railway experts.
