The documentary “Morocco in the eyes of the Palestinians”living testimony to the historical presence of the Kingdom in Al Quds Acharif, was screened in preview at the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco (BNRM), in the presence of an audience of personalities from various backgrounds.
Organized at the initiative of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, this preview screening associated with an exhibition of paintings on human values in the speeches of HM King Mohammed VI, intervenes within the framework of the activities of the 28th edition of the Salon du Livre et de l’Édition de Rabat (SIEL 2023).
This documentary retraces various facets of the multi-secular Moroccan presence in the holy city of Al-Quds and in Palestine in general, going back to the participation of Moroccans alongside Sultan Salaheddine Al-Ayoubi, to the liberation of the holy city .
The film highlights, through interviews with Moroccan and Palestinian personalities, many documented data attesting to the presence of Moroccans in the heart of the city of Al-Quds and in Palestine, Morocco’s positions with regard to Palestinian cause, while highlighting the action carried out by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, which reports to the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by HM King Mohammed VI, in support of the struggle of the Maqdessis.
In a speech, the director of the BNRM Mohamed El Ferrane, indicated that this documentary bears witness to the place of Palestine and the city of Al-Quds in the hearts of Moroccans throughout history, recalling, at this occasion, the history of Moroccan migration to Palestine and the migration of Palestinians towards the Kingdom.
For his part, the Ambassador of Palestine to Morocco, Jamal Choubki, expressed his thanks to the organizers of this screening, noting that this documentary reflects the strength of Moroccan-Palestinian relations which are strongly rooted in history.
Likewise, he stressed the support of HM King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people for the Palestinian cause, especially since “Moroccans form the largest community that supports the Palestinian cause abroad”.
For his part, the director in charge of the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, insisted on the strong ties uniting Moroccans and their Palestinian brothers as noted in this documentary film produced by the CCME, in partnership with the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency.
This documentary film shows beautiful images showing the solidity of Moroccan-Palestinian relations, as evidenced by the visit of the late HM Mohammed V in 1960 to Al-Quds, the tireless work accomplished by the late HM Hassan II in favor of Palestine, as well as the continued action of HM King Mohammed VI in the service of this cause, in particular through his chairmanship of the Al-Quds Committee and the supervision of the actions of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, he added.
