Mortal Kombat was originally considered to be called Kumite – Mortal Kombat 11

It was hard to believe anything this weekend as it was April Fool’s Day, which seems to be a favorite day on the internet that all companies want to have. April 1 was also the day Ed Boon decided to share an old name he (and presumably Mortal Kombat co-creator John Tobias) had already considered for Mortal Kombat.

Turns out one of the titles they played with before settling down was Kumite. Although Kumite is a good name (related to karate) which is quite frequently used for fighting tournaments and the like, we are very happy that they thought regarding it a little longer. It’s hard to imagine Mortal Kombat today without “Combat”, and just regarding every other word on C, spelled with a K – or what do you think?
