“Biden will go down in history as a terrorist,” Russian parliament speaker Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on his Telegram channel on Thursday. He was responding to a report by US journalist Seymor Hersh that US Navy divers were responsible for the gas pipeline explosions in the Baltic Sea. The White House has already denied the report.
The Russian leadership itself is suspected of being behind the explosions that severely damaged the pipelines leading from Russia to Germany at the end of September. From the outset, Moscow had supported the thesis of pipeline sabotage by the United States.

Russia had already shut down Nord Stream 1 at the time of the explosions due to alleged technical problems. According to Moscow, the Nord Stream 2 line, which is still operational despite the damage, has not yet received approval from the German authorities. According to the investigations, the detonations were caused by sabotage. To date, there is no clear proof of authorship.
Now the well-known investigative journalist Seymor Hersh has put forward the thesis in his blog that US special divers had attached the explosive devices to the lines in the Baltic Sea during a NATO exercise in June and later – supported by Norway – detonated them remotely.

The 85-year-old Hersh, who became known decades ago when US troops uncovered the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, has recently also repeatedly attracted attention with questionable research. The source situation for Nord Stream is uncertain, the USA and Norway have sharply rejected the report. “This is completely false and a complete fabrication,” said US National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson.
In Moscow, on the other hand, the report is widely discussed in the media and in politics. According to the published “facts”, an international investigation into the case and the punishment of those responsible are necessary, Volodin demanded.
“If (US President Harry) Truman became a criminal by using nuclear weapons against the civilian populations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Biden has become a terrorist who gave the order to destroy the energy infrastructure of his strategic partners Germany, France and the Netherlands has,” said the head of the Russian parliament. Volodin had earlier justified Russia’s bombing of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as part of Russia’s war of aggression.
