And case of dengue has been detected in Couzon-au-Mont-d’Or, a small town to the west of Lyon. This resident was returning from a trip to Martinique where he would have contracted this tropical disease which is transmitted by mosquito bites, according to Progress.
The town hall informs Couzonnaises and Couzonnais on social networks of a mosquito control operation within the city of Monts d’Or.
Mosquitoes killed on Wednesday night
The aim is to eradicate the tiger mosquito, responsible for the spread of Chikungunya, Zika and dengue fever, within a radius of 150 meters around the dwelling concerned.
The Interdepartmental Mosquito Control Agreement (EID) informs us of an intervention by the public establishment for the fight against mosquitoes and management of wetlands: on the night of Wednesday August 16 between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. in certain streets of our village .

Leaflets were placed in the boxes of the streets concerned. The insecticide used, aqua-k-Ohtrine (dose 0.5g/ha – cold mist) is authorized by the regulations.
The precautions to take
As a precaution, during the spraying operation and for half an hour after the intervention, it is recommended to:
Stay indoors Close the windows of your home Shelter your pets Do not leave your clothes to dry outside.
It is then strongly recommended to rinse your garden furniture with water and children’s games. Fruits and vegetables from the garden should not be eaten within three days. After this interval, they must be rinsed well with water.
If abnormal sensations appear following treatment, you are advised to contact your doctor or the Lyon poison control center on 04 72 11 69 11.
