The mother, who was caught by the police after four years on charges of neglecting her child and causing her death right after giving birth, was arrested.
On the 2nd, Suwon District Court Judge Lee Hyeon-jeong on duty issued an arrest warrant for suspect A in this case, who is suspected of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes (Child Abuse and Death).
The court explained the reason for issuing the warrant, saying, “There is a risk of escape.”
Mr. A is accused of leaving a boy who gave birth in Daejeon in April 2019 to death for three days.
She was pregnant with her boyfriend at the time, but broke up without knowing this fact, and it was investigated that she neglected it, such as not feeding the formula properly while raising it without registering the birth.
It has been reported that Mr. A is not legally in a marital relationship with the child’s father.
As the arrest warrant for Mr. A is issued, the police plan to speed up the investigation into the incident and focus on finding the baby’s body.
Mr. A, who is currently imprisoned at the Suwon Southern Police Station, gave up attending the warrant review, saying, “I have no regrets about being arrested by the police,” prior to the interrogation of the suspect before arrest that day (warrant review).
“I will reveal everything truthfully during the course of the investigation,” he said.
