A mother has been formally charged with murder after leaving her 1-year-old daughter home alone for 10 days unattended in Cleveland.
According to a statement from the city police, no signs of trauma were observed on the girl.
The 31-year-old mother, Kristel Candelario, reportedly traveled to Detroit as well as Puerto Rico during her 10-day absence, according to local NBC affiliate WKYC.
Neighbors reportedly claim Ms Candelario asked them to look after her daughter, Jaylin, in the past and wonder why she didn’t contact them this time around.
“Jailyn did not deserve this, shares a 13-year-old neighbor in an interview with the American media. She was gorgeous and adorable. I will miss her very much.”
The police indicate, for their part, that they are continuing their investigation into this file.
