Some games marked an entire genre. This is the case of the trilogy Dead Space with Survival Horror. Scary atmosphere in a setting that has seduced many players. So it came as no surprise to anyone when the reactions were unanimously positive when Motive Studios announced they were working on the remake of the first game: Dead Space. This was unveiled in July with some information and a first glimpse of the work carried out.
A release at the beginning of 2023 on the program
On the occasion of a new live, the studio wanted to say more about the development of this remake. The main subject ? Sound processing, an essential element to transcribe the ideal atmosphere. The team thus used a brand new technology to have a realistic sound behavior, with sound waves modified according to the objects and the distance between the character and the origin of the sound. Work has also been done on weapons to improve their sound, as the devs exemplified with the Plasma Cutter.
The studio also pushed the sound work down to the behavior of Isaac himself. Indeed, his breathing will adapt completely to the situation, depending on whether he is in great shape, out of breath or injured. But that’s not all. Each line of scripted dialogue will have these same variants. The studio gave an example in the video below:
We also had the right to an output window: Motive Studios wants to release Dead Space at the start of 2023 ! If no official date is yet known, it will be necessary to pay attention to a possible postponement, which have been legion in recent months.
