Moto2 T1: Checkered flag

The training comes to an end and Somkiat Chantra improves the best time to 1:52.596 minutes. This makes him 0.282 seconds faster than Pedro Acosta. The duo clearly set the pace here, with Ai Ogura in third already nine tenths of a second behind.

Jake Dixon, Filip Salac, Tony Arbolino, Manuel Gonzalez, Joe Roberts, Dennis Foggia and Sam Lowes follow from fourth place.

Lukas Tulovic got off to a good start in eleventh place.

07:34 am

Moto2 T1: Best time Chantra

Now the World Cup leader is showing his class. Acosta sets a new best time and is three tenths of a second faster than Ogura.

But moments later, Chantra is back at number one. The Thai beats Acosta’s time by 0.060 seconds.

07:31 am

Moto2 T1: Next crash Garcia

Sergio Garcia started training with a fall and has now finished it. His motorcycle is on the outside of turn 12 in the gravel trap. Garcia is okay and stomps away. There are briefly yellow flags.

07:28 am

Moto2 T1: Ogura back in front

The Japanese takes the lead again in terms of timing. Just like in Moto3, we are now seeing personal sector bests for many riders in the final phase. Now it’s time to put together a good round.

We’ve heard from the Moto3 riders that the grip isn’t great, but it’s pretty good for a “new” track.

07:23 am

Moto2 T1: Final phase

The final ten minutes begin and the top 10 are: Acosta, Arbolino, Chantra, Salac, Foggia, Ogura, Gonzalez, Lowes, Dixon and Canet. Tulovic can be found in 16th place.

Alberto Surra fell in the finish corner. Nothing happened to him either.

07:19 am

Moto2 T1: Best time Acosta

The Ajo team made the right changes in the set-up. At 1:53.642 minutes, Acosta is a tenth of a second faster than Arbolino.

07:14 am

Moto2 T1: Sturz van den Goorbergh

At the end of the long back straight, Zonta van den Goorbergh falls. He seems to be okay, but he waves over the marshal because his Kalex is on his legs. After the assistants are there, van den Goorbergh can continue driving. So he’s okay.

07:08 am

Moto2 T1: Best time Arbolino

And on his 15th lap, Arbolino sets a new best time of 1:53.756 minutes.

07:08 am

Moto2 T1: Arbolino is doing well

In recent weeks, Arbolino has often been behind on Fridays and only worked his way into the top 10 over the course of the weekend. But things are going well for the Italian here. He improved to third place behind the Honda Team Asia duo. Acosta is tenth.

The time intervals in the field are also shrinking. There are 15 riders in one second. Tulovic holds this 15th place and has had a better Friday so far than last.

6:58 a.m

Moto2 T1: Vietti off the track again

The Italian brakes before turn 12 and drives straight into the gravel. This time Vietti stays seated and he continues driving, but he hasn’t set a lap time yet.

6:58 a.m

Moto2 T1: Good start for Honda Team Asia

Chantra and Ogura move to the top of the time list. Salac is third, followed by Gonzalez and Acosta. This time Arbolino also started the weekend well and is eighth.

Lukas Tulovic is in 19th place, 1.4 seconds behind.

6:52 a.m

Moto2 T1: The first times

The drivers are getting used to the new track and after six laps we see times of 1:54. That’s also a reason for the extended training sessions, because with normal training time there wouldn’t be many laps.

After the first few minutes, Salac leads the classification ahead of Chantra, Ogura, Lopez and Ramirez. In the Moto2 class we also see large time gaps at the beginning.

6:42 a.m

Moto2 T1: Nothing happened

Garcia and Vietti can bring their bikes back to the pits. The remaining drivers are also back in the pits after their inspection lap. The training will continue in a few moments.

6:41 a.m

Moto2 T1: Red flag

Practice begins but there are immediate yellow flags in Turn 1. Moments later the red flag is shown. Sergio Garcia pushes his motorcycle through the gravel in Turn 1. So nothing happened to him.

Celestino Vietti is also reported to have fallen. He was too fast in Turn 1, entered the painted run-off area and highsided there. Vietti is okay too, but his bike ended up on the track.

6:32 a.m

Moto2 T1: 55 Minutes

Now it’s the middle class’s turn to get to know the route. Darryn Binder is back on the IntactGP team this weekend. His back injury from the fall in Spielberg has healed. During the injury break, the South African also had the metal in his right wrist removed. These were the consequences of the fall in Austin.

6:22 a.m

Moto3 T1: Checkered flag

The first training session is coming to an end and Jaume Masia is the man in charge. The Honda driver is fastest with a time of 2:00.324 minutes. In the end his lead melts away. Diogo Moreira is second, only 0.141 seconds behind.

Stefano Nepa, Matteo Bertelle, Romano Fenati, Collin Veijer, Joel Kelso, Jose Antonio Rueda, Riccardo Rossi and Ayumu Sasaki follow from third place.

There are problems with Daniel Holgado. The championship leader only drove eleven laps and sat in the pits for the second half of practice. We don’t currently know what problem there is with his KTM. Holgado can be found at number 25.
