Motorola is expected to introduce two new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 smartphones. The company will move on and bring the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra with this chipset but is also preparing for a new generation of its foldable lineup. The Motorola RAZR series will return with the upcoming Moto RAZR 2022. Yes, it seems that the company is choosing the “annual” naming structure instead of calling it the Motorola RAZR 3 as previously expected. Today, we got an official look at the device thanks to some photos shared by Chen Jin, General Manager of Lenovo Mobile China. we got good glimpse in folding design.
The first image reveals the phone with its open design. It brings rounded corners and a smaller chin compared to the two previous RAZR models. It’s closer to standard smartphone screens now. As a reminder, the previous RAZR had a massive lower chin as the device was made to give a nostalgic look to the RAZR foldable phones.
Returning to the new teaser, the company has also shared a product teaser video on Weibo. It gives us glimpses of the phone’s silhouette and key design elements such as the larger external display. There’s also a new dual-camera setup and a revamped hinge.
The Motorola RAZR 2022 really looks like a 2022 foldable smartphone. Especially when we compare it to current foldable smartphones like the one in the Galaxy Z Flip series. However, only time will tell, whether Motorola’s foldable has enough specs to challenge Samsung’s rival.
Alleged Motorola RAZR 2022 specifications
According to the leaks, the Moto RAZR 2022 will feature a 6.7-inch foldable P-OLED display with an all-new hinge mechanism and a 120Hz refresh rate. The external screen will bring a diagonal of 3 inches. The camera setup has a 50MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera. The battery department with a capacity of less than 3000 mAh may disappoint you.
Under the hood, the phone will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Soc with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The device may cost about 1149 euros.
