Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was commissioned by Count Franz von Walsegg in 1791 to compose a requiem for his late wife. The result was the now world-famous Mozart Requiem, which is why the original score was stored in his castle until shortly after the count’s death in 1827. And this castle in Gloggnitz, Lower Austria, often called “Mozart’s Last Castle”, will now be auctioned off from December 1st at Concierge Auctions in New York – an auction house that was taken over by Sotheby’s in 2021. Until December 14th Bids can be submitted.
