MSI Afterburner download warning, over 50 spoofing sites alone

MSI Afterburner, which is famous for graphics card overclocking and monitoring tools, is becoming the root of infecting malicious codes.

According to cyber security company Cyble, a phishing campaign targeting MSI Afterburner was discovered, and a phishing page that elaborately mimicked the official site was also confirmed.

If MSI Afterburner is downloaded through this site, the malware for coin mining is induced to be downloaded, and in this case, an attacker can mine cryptocurrency without the consent of the user.

Cyble said that about 50 phishing sites targeting MSI Afterburner were discovered in the past 3 months. To avoid this problem, it is recommended to download only from official websites or approved sites, not redistribution sites.
