The outbreak extends far beyond Wisconsin’s borders. Minnesota health officials have identified 23 cases linked to the same contaminated produce, while additional illnesses have been identified in other states. Immediate Refrigerators Check Urged for Consumers

State health officials advise Wisconsinites to check their homes for alfalfa sprouts from Everything Sprouts and Calco. Consumers who find these products in their homes should throw them away and refrain from eating them entirely, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Anyone who has already consumed the sprouts needs to monitor closely for symptoms of Salmonella and Shiga toxin-producing E. coli infections.
