Murder alarm: Headmaster killed in elementary school in Vienna

Murder alarm in Vienna-Simmering: On Monday morning, the school caretaker was found with stab wounds and cuts in an elementary school in Hoefftgasse. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, the 46-year-old died on the spot, police reported. The background was “still completely unclear” in the evening, as a spokesman for the executive said.

Police officers from the Simmering city police command and emergency services from the Viennese professional rescue service were alerted at around 8.45 a.m. because of a seriously injured male “in a room” in a school. At first there were no clear signs of a crime, but closer inspection revealed a suspicion of murder.

Two witnesses saw a man walking out of the educational facility. Apparently he didn’t belong to the school.

The man is said to have left the school (main entrance) between 06:25 and 06:30. This person left the school premises in the direction of Muhrhoferweg.

Description of the person according to the Vienna State Police Headquarters: slim, youthful gait, approx. 175-185 cm tall, dark trousers, probably a dark “hoodie” with a hood over the head, white face mask. In particular, witnesses are being sought who saw a person with the above description around 6:30 a.m. today in the vicinity of Vienna 11th, Muhrhoferweg -33111.
