This Wednesday, a suspect was arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of lawyer Claudia Van Der Stichelen.
As a reminder, the lawyer was shot dead in her garden while her son, who was defending his mother, was shot and injured.
He is a 65-year-old man who lives less than five kilometers from the lawyer’s home. He was arrested at a school exit in front of students and their parents. He was himself a client of Claudia Van Der Stichelen. As HLN tells us, EDC asked on Facebook what we could do against a lawyer.
Our colleagues questioned the EDC neighborhood, who found it difficult to believe that the sixty-year-old could have committed the irreparable. A neighbor said: “When it happened, EDC was watching television at home. And when he learned of the murder of his lawyer, the sky fell on his head. He couldn’t believe it.”

The neighbors of the arrested man knew that he did not have a good relationship with his lawyer. He often posted messages on Facebook along these lines. “But being angry with someone is something different than killing them,” another neighbor confided to our colleagues.
EDC’s neighbors further claimed that he had money and alcohol problems. “He just didn’t have the money to go out.”
This Thursday, the prosecution will communicate on the arrest of EDC to confirm or deny its link with the mysterious murder of lawyer Claudia Van Der Stichelen.
