Muscat: Oman will host the 2023 World Veteran Table Tennis Championship 2023. The championship runs from January 15 to 21. This is the first time that the World Veteran Table Tennis Championship is being held in Middle East. 3,500 players from 70 countries will participate in the championship held under the auspices of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). The venue is the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in Muscat. The mascot of the championship was released in the presence of representatives of ITTF, Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA) and Oman SAIL.
Stars between 40 and 90 in various categories will compete. The competition is in 44 categories. Five halls at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center will be arranged for the matches. ITTF President Petra Sorling said that it is a pleasure to host the World Veteran Table Tennis Championship for the first time in Middle East. OTTA President Abdullah Bamakhalf said that this is a proud moment for Oman. The lucky mascot of the championship is the Arabian cat. It is named ‘Al Washaq’. The organizers hope that the championship will strengthen Oman’s tourism sector.
