  • Open multitasking screen: swipe up with three fingers and pause while swiping up

  • Show Dock: swipe the cursor down the screen
  • Close an app: swipe up with three fingers and quickly release

Access iPadOS system features

You can easily access Control Center, Notification Center, Spotlight and Dock with the trackpad on iPad:

  • Open the Control Center: move the cursor to the upper right corner of the screen
  • Open Notification Center: move the cursor to the upper left corner of the screen
  • Open Spotlight Search: use two fingers to swipe down when on the home screen
  • Show the Dock: move the cursor down the screen

Select, cut, copy, paste text, zoom and scroll

You can easily select, cut, copy, paste text, and zoom and scroll with the Magic Keyboard’s trackpad:

  • Select text: double-click text
  • Copy/cut/paste a selected text: select the text then click on the selected text with two fingers and choose “Cut”, “Copy” or “Paste” from the menu
  • Zoom: place two fingers close to each other and spread them apart
  • Zoom out: Place two fingers close to each other and then pinch them together
  • Scroll up or down: swipe up or down with two fingers

You’ll need an iPad Pro or iPad Air with an iPad Magic Keyboard to use these gestures, but most of these tricks should also work on an iPad with an Apple Magic Trackpad.
