When Herra, a young Czech, falls in love with Nazir, an Afghan, she has no idea what kind of life awaits him in post-Taliban Afghanistan in 2011. In the family into which she becomes integrated, he there is the liberal grandfather, the very intelligent adopted son Maad and the sister-in-law Freshta, ready to do anything to escape the violent grip of her husband.
MY AFGHAN FAMILY touches our hearts. With sensitivity and humor, we observe how a family structure is reorganized. It’s a strong and human film, which unfortunately takes on more importance every day with the current events in Afghanistan. The successful combination of aesthetically pleasing animation and captivating story not only excites anime fans. Thus, MA FAMILLE AFGHANE has already won numerous jury prizes, notably in Annecy, and has been nominated for a Golden Globe.
