Nairobi Protests rage in Kenya against the government’s move to sharply increase tax rates amid rising cost of living. Hundreds of protesters clashed with police in Mibera, near Nairobi. Tires were burnt and stones were pelted at the police. Police fired tear gas. Kibera is the stronghold of Raila Odinga, the main opposition leader. Most of the protests are concentrated here. However, security has been beefed up in other cities as well. There were two protests at the beginning of the month. 15 people died in police violence. Read on deshabhimani.com
