CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A woman who was reported missing in December appeared to be found dead during a north Charlotte dive recovery Monday afternoon, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Authorities believe they found 79-year-old Nancy Brown’s body. A recovery operation was reported around 2:10 p.m. along Kirkgard Trail near West Sugar Creek Road.

Police said Brown’s body was found in a creek near the roadway, advising she was last seen at home off Neuhoff Lane on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Officers said she suffered cognitive impairment, was not from Charlotte, and may have been confused, attempting to get back to New York City as she was visiting family for the holidays.

The medical examiner’s office will investigate the cause of death and verify the identification of the deceased victim.

This is a developing story; check back for updates.
