A drowning incident in Xinyi Township, Nantou County! There were 6 men and women who went to the Shalixian River yesterday (23rd), and one of the women was accidentally caught under the big rock by the rushing stream. After the firefighters were reported, they immediately went to rescue, but due to the strong suction of the water, the woman had drowned when she was found.

The rescuers arrived at the scene, pulled the rope, and first helped a female tourist who was unable to advance or retreat to slowly climb from the big rock to the lower reaches of the stream. The woman cautiously grabbed the rope and looked very panicked, because one of her female companions had been swept away by the stream not long ago.

The strong water flow continued to wash. The rescuers wore life jackets, helmets, and ropes tied to their bodies. They ventured to search in the turbulent water, and found that the woman was swept into the crevices under the big rocks by the water.

Due to the strong current, the woman was sucked by the firm whirlpool. The search and rescue personnel considered safety and suspended the search and rescue operation on the 23rd. After discussing further rescue plans, the rescue continued on the morning of the 24th.

Firefighters pointed out that the drowning woman was a 37-year-old woman surnamed Guo from Taichung. On the morning of the 23rd, she and 4 other men and 1 woman went to the Xianxi River in Shali Township, Xinyi Township, and unexpectedly fell into the water and was swept under the stone by the whirlpool. The firemen dispatched a large number of search and rescue personnel to rescue them on the morning of the 23rd. It was not until the afternoon of the 23rd that Guo’s body was found in the crevice of the stone, but the strong water flow made rescue difficult, and the search and rescue work continued on the morning of the 24th.
