- Naoris is today (Thursday) celebrating the launch of its activities in Morocco. Why did you choose the kingdom as the first phase of expansion in Africa?
Choosing the Kingdom as the first step in our expansion into Africa was influenced by a combination of personal relationships and strategic vision. The fact that I myself am Moroccan certainly played a role as well. The decision became clear after returning to Morocco and listening to His Majesty the King’s speech about the country’s ambitions for digital sovereignty and regional leadership. Goals that are in line with Naoris’ orientations. Morocco is therefore an ideal place for our group to not only thrive as a business, but also contribute significantly to the country’s digital ambitions.
- Naturally, you conducted market research before making this decision. Is the Moroccan market, especially the financial fabric, in demand for services related to cyber security and blockchain?
Yes, we conducted a thorough market research before deciding to launch the Moroccan market. And it must be recognized that Morocco can be a difficult market to enter. However, our decision was largely driven by a sense of patriotism. I believed that Naoris’ technology could be of great benefit to my country. This belief has motivated me to redouble my efforts to ensure our success in providing cyber security and blockchain services, which are increasingly in demand by Moroccan companies.
- However, gaining market share will be difficult, given that several groups have been established in Morocco for years…
It is indeed a challenge to gain market share in Morocco, given the presence of established players who have been present for many years. However, many of these groups focus primarily on financial gains, offering generic “off the shelf” products that often offer limited solutions. On the other hand, Naoris differentiates itself by being a “boutique company”. Despite our relatively small size (around 100 people worldwide), we have expertise comparable to, or even greater than, that of larger companies. Our mission extends beyond simple profit; our goal is to have a positive impact on the world and truly contribute to solving problems. This commitment to value-added solutions and real impact helps us stand out in the Moroccan market.
- AI is also one of the prominent activities of your group. What are your prospects for the integration of this tool in the daily life of Moroccan companies?
At Naoris, our goal is not only to integrate AI into everyday tasks for convenience, but we are also focused on leveraging a specific type of AI – swarming artificial intelligence – to improve cyber security. Our mission with this technology is to effectively fight cybercrime and help make Morocco a safer country. This strategic application of AI aligns with our broader goals of delivering meaningful and impactful solutions rather than simply adopting the technology for its own sake.
- On the legislative side, what are the points or provisions that Morocco should adopt to ensure the rapid development of AI?
It is imperative that Morocco implements regulations and monitoring systems to responsibly manage the development and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI). If left unchecked, AI can have serious consequences. A major concern in the AI industry is the quality and transparency of the data used to train the algorithms. Currently, information about the origin and integrity of this data is often insufficient. By establishing clear standards and regulations for data quality and algorithmic transparency, Morocco can ensure safer and more efficient integration of AI technologies. This will not only protect users, but also promote trust and accelerate the development of AI in a sustainable way.
- Job creation, investments, future projects… what is the road map for the coming years?
When it comes to job creation, our goal is to create trust and reliability in digital environments that often lack clear safeguards. When it comes to investment, we prioritize education and awareness to ensure a well-informed user base and a workforce capable of navigating the complexities of modern technologies. Regarding our short-term plans, we are committed to using Naoris technologies to significantly contribute to improving Morocco’s digital ecosystem, making it safer and more resilient. This approach not only supports our immediate goals, but also establishes a solid foundation for sustainable growth and development in the region.
