Nara Smith Announces Daughter’s Cancer Diagnosis
Model and influencer Nara Smith has revealed that her 2-year-old daughter, Whimsy Lou, has been diagnosed with cancer.
According to a video Smith posted to Instagram on Wednesday, the family received the diagnosis late last year. Smith and her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, sought medical attention after noticing “something suspicious” on their daughter and taking her to the emergency room.
Smith recalled that when they visited their pediatrician, she immediately felt that her daughter had cancer. Following the pediatrician’s advice to go to the hospital, Whimsy Lou was diagnosed. Doctors informed the parents that the cancer had spread and that chemotherapy needed to begin immediately, though Smith did not disclose the specific type of cancer.
The “Homemade” cookbook author described the process of navigating the diagnosis as “really hard,” noting the challenge of balancing hospital visits and work while being postpartum and caring for their other three children: 5-year-old Rumble Honey, 4-year-old Slim Easy, and Fawnie Golden, who was born last year.
Smith stated that she found comfort and a reduction in loneliness by connecting with other parents and family members in the hospital, as well as through social media and various forums.
