NASA’s Martian helicopter will make a new flight to the Red Planet

NASA’s Martian helicopter is scheduled to make a new flight to the Red Planet on Saturday, the US space agency announced on Friday.

It is expected to reach an altitude of ten meters and travel some 203 meters in regarding 137 seconds on its new flight, the 53rd on Mars, according to NASA.

The aircraft, dubbed Ingenuity, arrived in Jezero Crater on February 18, 2021, attached to NASA’s Perseverance rover robot. This is a technology demonstration aimed at testing powered flight on another planet for the first time.

Ingenuity was designed to fly for up to 90 seconds, a distance of almost 300 meters each time and regarding 3 to 4.5 meters above the ground, according to NASA.
