NASHCOP: Tanzania’s New Program to Strengthen HIV/AIDS, STI, and Hepatitis Control

Tanzanian health authorities on Friday unveiled a new program aimed at strengthening the fight once morest HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and hepatitis.

Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu launched the National AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections and Hepatitis Control Program (NASHCOP) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s economic capital.

Addressing stakeholders, including government officials and development partners, the Minister on the occasion highlighted the importance of tackling HIV/AIDS in conjunction with STIs and hepatitis, as these interconnected infections can exacerbate transmission of HIV, she said.

“As of today, NASHCOP replaces the National AIDS Control Program to give it more vigor,” said Ms. Mwalimu, who presented the objectives of the program, which include strengthening preventive and curative services. once morest HIV/AIDS, STIs and hepatitis.
