National Archives release Queen’s death certificate

Three weeks following the death of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, the Scottish National Archives have released the Queen’s death certificate. The 96-year-old died on September 8 at 3:10 p.m. local time, around three and a half hours before her death was announced by the palace. The document lists old age as the cause of death.

Buckingham Palace announced the Queen’s death at 6.30pm on September 8, saying she “died peacefully at Balmoral Castle”.

Hundreds of visitors crowded outside Windsor Castle to the west of London for the reopening of Windsor Castle following the end of the royal mourning period. The castle, where the British Queen had spent most of her time since the start of the CoV pandemic, had been closed to the public since the Queen’s death on September 8th.
