In an official statement made this Wednesday, December 13, 2023, the National Consultation Commission on the Lunar Crescent announces that it has held a meeting at the RTS to observe the lunar crescent, thus marking the start of the month of Djummada-l-akhira or Maamou Koor.

Following in-depth discussions and the collection of information from representatives present in the various religious centers of the country, the lunar commission rendered the following verdict: no sighting of the lunar crescent has been reported in any locality in the country.

Therefore, Friday December 15, 2023 will officially be the first day of the lunar month of Djummada-l-akhira or Maamou Koor. This announcement is of particular significance as it marks the start of a 90-day period before the holy month of Ramadan.
