National fighting team returns from the African Championship with nine medals – Jornal OPaís

The National Wrestling Team, for both sexes, returned to the country on Friday, with nine medals won at the African Championship, held in Alexandria (Egypt).

Therefore, the federative objective of improving the eight medals won in the 2023 edition, in Tunisia, is achieved. With a group of 17 athletes, the Angolans won one gold, three silver and five bronze.

In the Greek Roman Wrestling competition, Angola came in fifth place, among 17 countries. In Olympic wrestling, the national team finished in eleventh position, among 21 teams.

The gold medal was won in the 65kg category, by Manaceu NGonda, while the three silver medals went to Josette Mavungo (69kg), Makaya Katendi (51kg) and Roberto Nsangua (86kg).

The bronze medals were won by Bofenda David (55kg), Francisco Kadima (77kg), Miguel Vata (61kg), Sofia Vemba (65kg) and Makaya Katendi (51kg).
