The big names continue to arrive in the Swiss championship. HC Lugano has signed Finnish striker Markus Granlund (29) for two seasons.

The Finnish colony will have the wind in its sails during the next National League championship. In Lugano alone, Grandlund will find 2 compatriots, goalkeeper Mikko Koskinen and world champion defender Oliwer Kaski.

Trained in Oulu, Grandlund (1m80, 85 kg) was drafted in the 2nd round by the Calgary Flames in 2011. Between 2013 and 2020, he played 338 NHL games (102 points, 58 goals) with the Calgary Flames, the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers.

Passed through the KHL

He ended his North American experience with the coronavirus. Granlund has spent the last two seasons in the KHL under the colors of Salavat Yulaev Ufa. He scored 91 points (31 goals) in 91 games.

Markus Granlund, reigning Olympic champion, completes the foreign legion of Lugano, led by Chris McSorley. In addition to the Finns Koskinen and Kaski, there are forwards Mark Arcobello (USA), Daniel Carr (CAN) and Troy Josephs (CAN) under contract.
