National News Agency – Choucair from Tripoli: Lebanon cannot return to the path of recovery without the best relations with the Gulf states

NNA – The head of the economic authorities, former Minister Mohamed Choucair, revealed that a meeting will be held next Wednesday at the headquarters of the Economic and Social Council, bringing together the economic authorities and the General Labor Union, with the participation of the Minister of Labor and the President of the Economic and Social Council, to take a decision regarding social assistance and an increase in transportation allowance for workers and employees.

When Choucair saw that the current short stage requires re-assigning President Najib Mikati to form the future government, he stressed that “Lebanon cannot return to the path of recovery and advancement without the best relations with the Gulf states.”

Choucair’s words came during a dialogue meeting organized by the Federation of Trade Unions and Employers in North Lebanon headed by Shadi El-Sayed, under the title: “In order to consolidate economic and social dialogue and cooperation to protect workers, institutions and the identity of Lebanon”, at the Oil Facilities Employees Club located in Tripoli, attended by President of the General Labor Union Bechara Al-Asmar, President of the Chamber of Tripoli and the North Tawfiq Dabboussi, Mayor of Tripoli Riyad Yamaq, Adviser to President Mikati Moqbel Malak, President of the Tripoli Mayors Association Fathi Hamza, Vice President of the General Labor Union Hassan Fakih, Vice President of the Economic and Social Council and Secretary General of the Labor Union Saad Eddin Hamidi Saqr, And a number of the leadership of the Labor Union and the Economic Council and a group of heads of federations and trade unions in the north, workers and employees.

Al-Sayed delivered a speech in which he said: “It is a great honor for us in the Federation of Trade Unions and Employees in North Lebanon that the launch of our work and our dialogues in this open discussion with the friend of the General Labor Union and workers, head of economic bodies, former Minister Mohamed Choucair”, hoping that “we will contribute to the consolidation of A constructive socio-economic dialogue that contributes greatly to the fairness of workers, the protection of institutions, and the preservation of Lebanon’s identity.

He continued, “Our concerns are great and our fears are greater, in light of this severe crisis that is hitting Lebanon from all sides, where the Lebanese worker is the first victim, whether it is in the crushing of his income or unemployment, immigration and poverty. And we certainly feel good with the owners of institutions who have also been affected greatly by this crisis It led to the closure of thousands of institutions and damaged many of them, and even the economy today is about to be in bed death.”

Al-Sayed said: “We, as a union, know very well that this period should be a period of solidarity and solidarity between employers and workers to come out by the time this crisis passes with the least possible losses.”

When al-Sayed complained that Greater Tripoli, which hosts many major vital facilities, is still marginalized, despite the efforts made by the city’s loyalists, especially President Najib Mikati and Dabousi, he sounded the alarm, warning that “if things continue as they are, the explosion The socialite will depart from this oppressed city.”

Regarding the dialogue with the labor union, Choucair said: “The economic bodies and the labor union have always been the first to engage in dialogue and objectively consider economic and social conditions, because we consider that a scientific and open dialogue produces positive solutions, and this is what happened in the previous dialogue, and certainly this is what will happen in the dialogue. What is currently underway, as remarkable progress has been made at this level,” revealing “a meeting will be held next Wednesday at the headquarters of the Economic and Social Council that brings together the economic bodies and the General Labor Union, with the participation of the Minister of Labor and the President of the Economic and Social Council, to take a decision regarding social assistance and an increase in transportation allowance for workers and employees.”

On the economic crisis and how to rise, Choucair stressed that “the agreement with the International Monetary Fund is an urgent necessity to start the recovery process, because it opens the way for Arab and international aid to Lebanon,” stressing that “Lebanon cannot return to the path of recovery and advancement without the best relations with countries. The Gulf, especially since these countries constitute the strategic economic depth of our country, whether at the level of export, tourism, investment, hosting hundreds of thousands of Lebanese, and much more.

He said, “There are many countries in the world that have gone through economic crises, but the problem in Lebanon is that three years after the start of the crisis, no action has been taken to confront it so far.”

Noting that the current government, headed by President Mikati, has done an important job by reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund, which is a fulcrum for the recovery process, he saw that “the current short stage requires re-assigning President Najib Mikati to form the future government, because he is aware of the various files that must be To take the course of implementation immediately,” calling for “the formation of the forthcoming government quickly, because Tripoli and Lebanon cannot wait for any additional time.”
