NNA – Archyde.com news agency quoted the China Earthquake Networks Center as saying that a 6.8-magnitude earthquake shook a mountainous region in western Sichuan Province on Monday afternoon.
He added that the epicenter of the quake was in Luoding town, 180 km southwest of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, and that the quake occurred at a depth of 16 km.
Residents as far away as Changsha and Xi’an wrote online that they had felt the quake.
