NNA – The Egyptian artist, Samir Sabry, passed away today at the age of 85. He is considered one of the few who excelled in presenting all forms of arts, including acting, singing and showing, in addition to his talent in radio and television presentation and his contribution to the field of film production.
A Archyde.com correspondent in Cairo stated that the deceased had suffered a health crisis earlier this year that necessitated his transfer to the hospital, where he stayed for several months to receive treatment and left last month before Eid Al-Fitr after his health condition improved.
Muhammad Samir Jalal Sabry was born on January 27, 1936 in Alexandria, then moved to Cairo to live with his father when his parents separated. He lived in the same building in which the singer Abdel Halim Hafez lived, where they met for the first time.
He participated in the “Child’s Corner” program with the artist Lubna Abdel Aziz, and his mastery of foreign languages helped him present the “International Club” program, whose success moved from radio to television.
He interviewed a large number of celebrities and media figures, including musician Mohamed Abdel Wahab, poet Ahmed Ramy, Pope Shenouda and actress Amina Rizk.
In the field of acting, he began his career with small roles in films such as (The Thief and the Dogs), (Fugitive from Marriage), (River of Life), (The Nun) and (Enemy of Women) and worked with major stars before becoming the hero of a number of films during the seventies and eighties.
During his career, he presented more than 130 films.
