The Ministry of Agriculture announces the start of the national vaccination campaign against rabies in the different governorates of the country.

Vaccination, which is compulsory and free, will continue until January 2024. The ministry specifies in a press release made public Thursday that the vaccination campaign concerns dogs and cats, and it will be carried out by work teams who will travel to different regions of the country.

Due to the delicate health situation and the danger that rabies represents for the health of humans and animals, the ministry calls on citizens to contribute to the success of this campaign and to facilitate the mission of the work teams .

According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, the number of cases attacked by suspicious animals increased from 30,000 in 2010 to nearly 42,000 in 2022. 31% of recorded cases are perpetrated by stray dogs, the same source noted.
