The Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) party presented Joel Sánchez and Hilda Bonilla this Sunday as its presidential formula for the 2024 elections, in an attempt to wrest power from current President Nayib Bukele.
“They do not come to tell me how progress develops and how to give opportunities to people… I know it, I have done it in the United States, Mexico and El Salvador… We are going to give everything for all sectors,” said Sánchez, in a internal event of the tricolor.
Sánchez was presented on June 15 as a presidential proposal by the Resistencia Ciudadana movement, and this Sunday ARENA has given him support for the presidential race. The MRS is led by Miguel Fortín Magaña, Ronald Umaña and Rubén Zamora, among other former leaders of political parties.
Sánchez, 55, is a Salvadoran businessman who immigrated to the US from Cojutepeque at a young age, where he has developed a successful career providing cleaning services through a company that is represented in the United States, Mexico and El Salvador.
Sánchez y Bonilla is the only formula for the presidential elections by ARENA, after going through the evaluation of the National Electoral Commission (CEN).
ARENA’s vice president for idolology, Ricardo Godoy, stated that the party will carry “a hopeful message” from this day on.
“ARENA today begins to give a message of hope… The ARENA that we love has its face in each of its militants,” said Godoy.
Carlos Saade, president of the tricolor party, also called on his affiliates to turn the country around. “The brave ones are here, the people with values are here… The people of ARENA are capable of making transformations,” Saade posted on the Parliamentary Group’s twitter account.
ARENA will have its internal elections on July 16, as well as FMLN and GANA, where they will ratify their pre-candidates.
