There are drinks that a pregnant woman can take when she has the flu and a cold, because they help recovery, according to Dr. Ola Abu Saree, a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist.

Abu Saree identified drinks that help treat colds and influenza for pregnant women in the following categories:

1- Ginger.

2- green tea.

3- Anise.

4- Lemon juice.

5- Orange juice.

6- Guava leaf.

7- Warm soup.

8- Thyme.

The obstetrics and gynecology consultant explained that these drinks play a major role in treating colds and influenza, due to their antibacterial and antiviral properties, and their ability to relieve symptoms associated with both diseases, such as coughing and congestion.

She recommended that pregnant women should drink plenty of water when suffering from influenza and a cold, because dehydration increases sore throat and nasal congestion.

Despite the ability of fenugreek and cinnamon to treat colds and influenza, Abu Saree warned pregnant women against taking them, because they increase the risk of miscarriage.

Abu Saree advised pregnant women to rely on bee honey to sweeten drinks for colds and influenza, because it is safer than sugar and helps to enhance its nutritional value.

She concluded her speech by pointing out that there are instructions that pregnant women must follow when catching colds and influenza, the most important of which are:

– Eternity to rest, because intense physical activity exacerbates symptoms.

– Make cold compresses, to lower the high body temperature.

– Eat vegetables and fruits, because they contain a high percentage of vitamin C, which helps to strengthen the immunity of pregnant women.
