Now there is practically no ice near Arkhangelsk
The ice drift continues to approach Arkhangelsk. According to the Northern Department of the National Migration Service, its head is 93 kilometers from the city. The main ice drift is expected to arrive on April 26.
The current only carries small pieces of ice
Earlier, Natalya Belikhina, head of the department of river and marine hydrological forecasts of the Northern UGMS, told 29.RU that ice drift this year will be short-lived.
“The length of our ice drift this year is small – only about 18 to 20 kilometers. Sometimes the length of the ice drift reaches 60-80 kilometers. The passage of drifting ice is now recorded at each station within approximately two hours. In addition, the intensity of ice drift decreases considerably; either rare ice drift is observed or individual ice floes float.

The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that from May 6 it will be possible to travel along the Northern Dvina on small boats. The department has published a navigation opening schedule:

from April 25, navigation will be open on water bodies located in Ustyansky and Shenkursky districts, Velsky district;

from April 30 – on water bodies located in Koryazhma, Kotlas and Mirny, Verkhnetoyemsky, Vilegodsky, Vinogradovsky, Kotlassky, Krasnoborsky and Nyandoma districts, in Konoshsky and Lensky districts;

from May 3 – on water bodies located in Kargopol and Plesetsk districts, Onega region;

from May 6 – on water bodies located in Arkhangelsk, Novodvinsk and Severodvinsk, Kholmogorsky, Pinezhsky and Primorsky districts;

from May 15 – on water bodies located in Leshukonsky and Mezensky districts, in the villages of Malaya Muksolma, Rebolda, Savvatyevo and Solovetskoye of Primorsky district.

Until now the ice is drifting future along Pomerania, but further south. In several domains flooding is observed. Water has risen to dangerous levels in Kholmogory district.
Ice drift in 2023 came to Arkhangelsk April 30 at 2022 — April 28 in 2021 — April 19-20, in 2020 And 2019 – April 29.
