Tianyancha App shows that on March 21, the business status of Zhejiang Nongfu Spring Drinking Water Co., Ltd. changed from existence to cancellation.
In this regard, on March 22, Nongfu Spring stated to the mainland media “Daily Economic News”: “It is a normal company change, and I applied for it last year.”
According to documents seen by Inspur News reporters, the company made a merger resolution on November 8, 2023, and the two companies merged by absorption. Nongfu Spring (Jiande) Xin’anjiang Beverage Co., Ltd. continues to exist, and Zhejiang Nongfu Spring Drinking Water Co., Ltd. is dissolved and canceled.
The assets of Zhejiang Nongfu Spring Drinking Water Co., Ltd. are owned by Nongfu Spring (Jiande) Xinanjiang Beverage Co., Ltd., and all claims and debts are inherited by Nongfu Spring (Jiande) Xinanjiang Beverage Co., Ltd. Its parent company is Nongfu Spring Co., Ltd., listed in Hong Kong.
Previously, after Zong Qinghou, the founder of China’s largest food and beverage manufacturer Wahaha Group, passed away on February 25, some online articles accused Zhong Suisui, the founder of Nongfu Spring, saying that he was promoted by Zong Qinghou when he was young and relied on acting as an agent for Wahaha. He made his first pot of gold, but he was ungrateful. Then, some people compared the packaging of Nongfu Spring and Wahaha, saying that Wahaha is patriotic, while Nongfu Spring “insults China and flatters Japan.” Little pink fans went out collectively to denounce Zhong Suisui, boycott Nongfu Spring, and there were multiple videos of Nongfu Spring products being removed from the shelves.
On February 27, Zhong Suisui, the founder of Nongfu Spring, recently resigned as the legal representative of its subsidiaries Zhejiang Nongfu Industrial Development Co., Ltd. and Xinjiang Nongfu Base Manas Food Co., Ltd.
Since February 28, Nongfu Spring’s sales in China have plummeted one after another.
Affected by this, Nongfu Spring’s stock price fell overall. Among them, on March 1, it fell by 3.38%; on March 4, it fell by 1.2%; as of the close of March 5, Nongfu Spring fell by 2%, reported at HK$41.55, with a total market value of HK$467.3 billion. In three trading days, Nongfu Spring’s market value fell from HK$499.3 billion to HK$467.3 billion, with its market value shrinking by HK$32 billion (approximately RMB 29.4 billion).
Lai Jianping, a former Beijing lawyer and Canadian chairman of the Democratic Front, previously told The Epoch Times that behind the incident was the invisible hand of the CCP stirring up the entire trend. Anyone who understands China’s national conditions knows that under such strict control by the CCP, any public opinion at any time cannot be spontaneously generated by the people. There is an invisible hand guiding public opinion and fanning the flames.
Lai Jianping believes that one of the CCP’s purposes in besieging Zhong Suisui is to attack him. Now that the Chinese Communist government has no money, it will use this operation to plunder private money and force them to make “large donations.” In addition, the CCP does not allow private enterprises to become stronger or larger, which will make it more difficult to control private enterprises.
