The Denver Nuggets have one foot in the second play-off round of the North American basketball league NBA. The defending champion also won the third duel with the Los Angeles Lakers and, after the 112:105 away win on Thursday, only needs one win to win the first round series. Joel Embiid stood out for the Phillies in several respects: he scored no fewer than 50 points, despite a very unpleasant disability. Embiid has recently been suffering from a sudden onset of one-sided facial paralysis, known in English as “bell’s palsy”. “It’s pretty annoying with the left side of my face, my mouth and my eye,” the 30-year-old Cameroonian later explained. “It was hard, but I’m not one to give up. It’s unfortunate, but I have to fight through it.”
The condition often begins very suddenly, worsens within days, and results from damage to a facial nerve. It usually improves within a few weeks but can last up to six months. “I think it started a day or two before the Miami game,” Embiid recalled of an April 17 match. He was dealing with migraines.
